UPDATE: Man arrested for disorderly conduct after alleged kidnapping


Press Release from the Eau Claire County Sheriff's Department: On 07/23/2013 at about 1:00pm Eau Claire Co Deputies were notified by State Patrol that they were attempting to locate a subject that might be held against her will traveling on I-94. Deputies were advised the female party had locked herself in the rest room of a gas station at the 59 exit in Eau Claire Co. Deputies arrived and found State Patrol already on scene. Deputies interviewed both suspect and complainant and found that it was not an abduction.

Suspect and complainant  met on an online dating service about a week ago. Suspect and victim spoke on the phone and eventually agreed to meet. Suspect agreed to drive from Minnesota to Whitehall to pick up victim and take her to Mall of America. Suspect picked up complainant in Whitehall and when reaching Osseo area he changed their plans to go to Mall America. Victim stated suspect then started to touch and caress her  arm, neck and leg. She told suspect that she need to use the restroom and suspect stopped at the 59 exit where she locked herself in the bathroom and called for assistance.

Suspect, Jason C Ogurak of Edina, Mn was ordered into court for a disorderly conduct charge and released.


Eau Claire (Press Release) - On Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at approximately 12:51 p.m., the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post Communications Center received information of a female subject being held against her will by a male subject.

The victim was being held in black Chevrolet Equinox and was traveling west bound on Interstate 94 near Eau Claire. The victim had limited communications during this event via text messaging.

Troopers were stationed along several sectors of Interstate 94 between Eau Claire and Hudson in an effort to locate the vehicle and suspect and to safely recover the female victim. The victim was able to convince the male suspect that she needed to use the rest room at the next exit ramp which they came upon.

The victim was able to communicate to law enforcement that she was in a rest room at the Holiday Gas Station near an Elk Mound exit.

Responding State Patrol Troopers and Inspectors located the vehicle and both parties at the Holiday Gas Station / Burger King Restaurant near Exit 59. The 19-year-old victim from Whitehall was located unharmed inside the facility. A 32-year-old male from Edina, Minn. was arrested outside the facility near his rental vehicle. The two parties met online and communicated via the Internet.

The male subject was turned over the Eau Claire County Sheriff's Department. The Eau Claire County Sheriff's Department is continuing its investigation.

Other agencies assisting with this incident included the Whitehall Police Department and the Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department Communications Center.
