Patrol: Woman held captive texts for help

Posted:

EAU CLAIRE (WKOW) – The Wisconsin State Patrol says a 19-year-old woman held against her will was able to text for help.

The patrol says a 32-year-old Edina, Minnesota, man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after holding the young woman from Whitehall in an SUV on Interstate 94.  They met each other online.

Authorities say the woman convinced the man to let her use the restroom at a nearby gas station near Elk Mound and was able to text for help.

According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the woman was not physically harmed.
