Man spits on protestor during Wednesday sing-along

MADISON (WKOW) -- A man got a disorderly conduct citation on Wednesday for spitting on a singer/protestor during the regular midday sing-along in the Capitol rotunda.

A fellow protestor captured the spitting incident on video. The clip shows the man spitting toward a person, then walking away and outside the Capitol.

The person taking the video follows and eventually tapes police taking the spitter away.

It was one of 26 citations issued by Capitol Police Wednesday, when they cracked down on the Solidarity Singers for having too large a gathering without a permit. Recently, federal court judge William Conley ruled the Department of Administration could require a permit for gatherings of more than 20 people. WKOW 27 News Capitol Bureau Chief Greg Neumann was there during the arrests, and estimates around 40 singers/protestors had gathered.

A link to the video clip was sent to WKOW by Arthur Kohl-Riggs.

The video may contain explicit language.
