Eau Claire (WQOW) - "I personally asked to come back here and play for him, because honestly he's always been my favorite coach. He's super laid back and he just makes the game fun. I couldn't be happier to witness this and I'm very happy for him."
That is what Eau Claire Express outfielder Tim Zier said about his manager, Dale Varsho, following his skipper's record breaking victory.
The Express rallied from a 4-3 deficit to defeat the Wisconsin Woodchucks 7-4 Thursday night to give Varsho career win number 301. A total that gives him the new Northwood's League career win record for a field manager.
Varsho has been with the team since its inaugural season in 2005. Never one to want the spotlight to shine on himself, Varsho says he's proud of the record but is happy the team can now move forward.
"It's nice to be home when I did it. You know I didn't even know I had 300 last game so its one of those things that I don't really think about it and you know it's just me being around for a long time. That's the best part about it, you know its longevity, it's us being there, it's a good time of just knowing that it's over with and now we can go forward."
