Local photographer remembered

Menomonie (WQOW) - A Menomonie football team is sending out its condolences to the Dave Higgins family.  Higgins was the photographer for the Menomonie Thunderhawks, a semi-pro football team.

Higgins had a heart attack before the team's game Saturday and passed away.  Menomonie was playing in Duluth.  Everyone paused for a moment of silence in his memory.

The team said Higgins was an incredible man, husband and father.

A celebration of Dave's life will be held at the Riverview Island Pavilion Wednesday, July 31st from 4pm-7pm in Eau Claire. In lieu of flowers the Higgins family is requesting that donations to be made to the Menomonie Thunderhawks.

The team will be creating an annual award in Dave's name, honoring a player, coach or member of the organization that is community-minded, puts the team first and displays selflessness. Donations can be sent to Thunderhawks Football PO BOX 147 Menomonie WI 54751.
