Packers fever hits Wisconsin

Posted:

Green Bay (WAOW) - The Packers haven't kicked off once in the preseason, but that's not stopping the green and gold faithful from already getting excited.

A record crowd cheered on the Packers at the annual Family Night on Saturday.

Fans enjoyed new additions to Lambeau Field, some from farther away than others.

"I came from Hollywood, California," said Thomas Kilmczyk. "I came 32 hours straight through to come to this game."

The Packers fever doesn't stop at Lambeau.

A store employee at Packerland Plus in Wausau says even though the regular season is a month away, customers are already stocking up on the latest team apparel.

"The store has been crazy actually," said Brittany Engel. "We've been getting a lot of people coming in. We have new Packers stuff coming in every week, so people are very interested in that."

She says lots of people are asking for new names. In particular, Packers rookie running back Eddie Lacy.

The Packers first preseason game is Friday against the Arizona Cardinals. You can watch that game right on WQOW News 18. Click here to view Packers games/specials airing on WQOW.

The regular season games start in September.
