PHOTO SLIDESHOW: US Open Chainsaw Sculpture Championship

The U.S. Open Chainsaw Sculpture Championship in its third year is hosted by the Paul Bunyan Logging Camp Museum. Elite carvers from all over the world will carve their artwork during the four-day event.

Friday night, visitors will be able to purchase tickets for a reception where they can "meet and greet" the carvers and discuss the details of their carving. For $5, visitors get admission to the event and a piece of pizza. Entertainment will be provided. Quick carve completion will take place, and visitors can bid on finished art pieces that night. Sunday afternoon there will be an award ceremony, followed by an auction of the finished pieces. The US Open celebrates the rich heritage of logging and outdoors. Carvers from around the country have said that this competition has become "the best event east of the Mississippi."
