MADISON (WKOW) -- Wisconsin football seniors Curt Phillips and Brendan Kelly have heard just about every joke there is to hear about their age. They're only 23 years old, but that's ancient for college football players. Both players are entering their sixth years with the Badger football team, after being granted another year of eligibility by the NCAA in the offseason. Phillips missed all of the 2010 and 2011 seasons after suffering multiple knee injuries. Kelly battled a hand injury in the 2008 season, only playing in three games, and then later redshirted in 2010.
Both players are the butt of all jokes with their teammates. Nicknames like "the Godfather" and "Van Wilder" aren't uncommon for them to hear, but these veteran Badgers are also huge asset to the team with their knowledge of the program.
