Andersen: No QB Announcement Until Season Opener

Madison (WQOW) -- Wisconsin coach Gary Andersen gave plenty of hints, but says he will not publicly announce his starting quarterback until the Badgers' first game.

Saturday was the team's lone practice of the weekend. Senior Curt Phillips received the majority of the first team reps, leading the offence on a 69-yard touchdown drive in the two-minute drill. Although he was coy with reporters, Andersen hinted that Phillips is leading the quarterback battle with Joel Stave and Tanner McEvoy.

"Anybody that sits down and watches practice, you guys are smart guys and gals, you understand where it's going, the direction that it is," says Andersen. "I think it's still wide open. I think we'll close in on a lot of different positions on Monday with the scrimmage, and we'll start game preparation for a couple of our upcoming opponents early next week."

The Badgers hold the team's final scrimmage of fall camp on Monday.
