MADISON (WKOW) -- Talk about starting off with a bang. The Madison Edgewood football team opens it 2013 season Thursday night hosting Waunakee. The Warriors have made it to Level 5 of the Division 2 playoffs each of the past four seasons. Edgewood head coach Al Minnaert admitted, his opponent may be the most successful program in the state over the past decade, but his team is still going to play to win.
The Crusaders bring back 19 seniors including starting quarterback Bobby Dunn and running back Evan Bondoc. Bondoc was a first team Badger South selection in 2012, rushing for nearly 800 yards and six touchdowns.
The last time Waunakee and Edgewood met was the opener in 2011, where the Warriors won 55-19. To see the video version of this story, click on the link.
