Man robbed of his bike in Goodman Park


MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police are investigating an armed robbery incident which occurred late Tuesday night at Goodman Park.

The victim, a 51-year-old man, stated he was near the softball fields around 11:30 p.m. when the suspect approached him and demanded his belongings.

When the victim refused, he was attacked with a broken beer bottle.  The suspect then took the man's yellow Mongoose bicycle with an attached trailer and headed south into Quann Park.

The victim did not have a phone, but did find the help of an uninvolved citizen who called 911.

The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was treated at an area hospital. 
The suspect, who is described as a black male in his 30's or 40's, remains at large.  He is approximately 6' tall and has medium length hair. 
During the investigation, information received is the suspect is homeless and he may frequent the downtown and south side areas of the city.
