Large sinkhole swallows trees in LA

LOUISIANA (WKOW) – A large sinkhole was caught on tape in Louisiana as it swallowed a whole group of trees.

The sinkhole appeared in the Assumption Parish Waterway last year prompting a mandatory evacuation.

Since then, state and federal agencies have been monitoring it.

A sinkhole also opened up in Ocala, Florida, and swallowed up nearly all the water from a pond.

Residents reported the pond looking low on Tuesday and by late afternoon, it was practically all gone.  Officials say the pond used to be about eight feet deep in some areas.
