Body recovered from Lake Wissota

UPDATE:  Law enforcement has confirmed that a body was recovered from Lake Wissota late Friday afternoon.

Chippewa Falls (WQOW) - A drowning was reported near Chippewa Falls Friday afternoon on Lake Wissota.

The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office says an Eau Claire man, believed to be in his 30s, called his parents to tell them he was going to commit suicide. It's believed he then kayaked out into the middle of the lake, tied a brick to himself, and went into the water.

Dive teams are searching the lake at this time. The water is about 15 feet deep.
