PBA star Walter Ray Williams Jr. visits Eau Claire

Eau Claire (WQOW) - If you're a fan of pro bowling you're sure to recognize the star of the sport who stopped in Eau Claire earlier today.

Walter Ray Williams Jr. visited Wagner's Lanes in Eau Claire to give tips and answer questions from local bowlers. Williams has been named the Professional Bowling Association Player of the Year Award. He's earned that title a record of seven times. He is also both the single season and career record holder for earnings. He says the game is an easy one to learn.

"One of the things I like about bowling is it's something you can do your whole life. It's a great family sport, everybody can do it. You don't have to be a certain physical specimen, you don't have to be skinny, you don't have to be large, tall or small. There's no advantage one way or the other," Williams said.

He recommends that kids wait until the age of 11 or 12 before playing the game as a serious sport. At age 53, Williams says he's hopeful he can continue to play professionally for several more years.
