Volleyball tournament held in memory of fallen deputy

Chippewa Falls (WQOW) - Law enforcement, fire, and EMS workers hit the sand in Chippewa Falls Saturday to play volleyball for a good cause, and remember one of their own.

The fifth annual Jason's Presents volleyball tournament took place at Loopy's in Chippewa Falls today. The event is held each year in honor of the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department Deputy Jason Zunker, who died in the line of duty after being hit by a vehicle in 2008. The money from the fundraiser is used each winter to buy presents for kids in need. It's similar to the Shop with a Cop outreach effort that happens across the state.

"He had envisioned putting a program similar to that in Chippewa County. Other members of the sheriff's department had taken up what Jason's role was, and his dream of making this a reality," said Mike Marcks, who was playing in the tournament.

A total of 80 players from several different departments joined in the effort.
