Woman robbed in store parking lot

MADISON (WKOW) -- Police are looking for a man they say robbed a woman as she left work.

Officers were called to Loanmax on E. Washington Ave. just after 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say a 20-year-old employee of the business told officers she had just locked up the store and she was getting ready to get in her car when a man came up to her and pressed a handgun into her side. Officers say the man forcibly took her purse and other paperwork, and then fled on foot.

Police describe the suspect as a black man in his late 20's, standing about 5'9'' with a muscular build. They say he was wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt, dark-colored shorts with a red stripe down the side and a baseball cap.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the crime should call Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.
