POTOSI (WKOW) -- Wednesday night, shortly after 8:00, the Grant County Sheriff's Department was called to a truck vs. motorcycle accident at Stage and British Hollow Roads in Potosi Township.

Initial investigation reveals 21-year-old Joseph Stelpflug, of Potosi, was driving his pickup north on Stage Road, approaching the intersection with British Hollow Road.

Harley motorcycle riders David Edge and his wife, Joan, both 59-years-old and of rural Potosi, were traveling west on British Hollow Road when Edge pulled onto Stage Road heading south.  Stelpflug attempted to avoid the motorcycle, but the two crashed.  Both David and Joan were ejected.

Joan was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Grant County Coroner's Office.  Her husband was transported to Grant Regional Health Center by Potosi EMS, but later died as a result of his injuries.  Neither were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Wisconsin State Patrol responded and will be conducting a total crash reconstruction.  Assisting the Grant County Sheriff's Office were Potosi Fire, Potosi EMS, Lancaster Police, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Donnie's Tire and Auto of Dickeyville.

The Sheriff's Office thanks the members of the Potosi Fire Department who volunteered several hours, providing lighting and traffic control while the investigation was completed.
