Sen. Ron Johnson reacts to President Obama's Syria announcement

Posted:

WASHINGTON (WKOW) -- U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson has released a statement, responding to President Obama's announcement on U.S. plans for military action in Syria.

On Saturday, the president addressed the nation, saying he wants the U.S. to take military action against Syria's government, but he will wait until Congress approves it.

Johnson released the following statement Saturday afternoon:

"I am pleased that President Obama will seek Congressional authorization before attacking Syria. I have repeatedly said that the President must make the case for military action to the American people.  I do not know how I will vote. I will listen respectfully and consider the evidence carefully. The President says Syria "presents a serious danger to our national security." He must explain what this danger is, and how his plan would reduce it."
