MMSD releases reduced lunch guidelines

MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison Metropolitan school district and the U.S. Department of Agriculture have released the guidelines for qualifying for free or reduced lunch.

"Healthy meals and good nutrition enable our students to do their best learning," Food & Nutrition Director Steve Youngbauer said. "We are pleased that working together with the federal government, we are able to provide that daily nutrition to thousands of our students."

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has developed a scale to determine a family's household size income and its corresponding amount of funds. To learn the amount of aid available to your family follow the link.

To be eligible, families must fill out an application and turn it in at the child's school anytime during the 2013-14 school year. Applications can be found online. Families can also file an application at their school enrollment days.
