Firefighters called to house fire in Chippewa Falls overnight

Chippewa Falls (Press Release) -- On September 2, 2013, at 10:52 p.m., the Chippewa Falls Fire & Emergency Services Department responded to a report of a residential structure fire at 716 Westhaven Road in Chippewa Falls.
Additional information provided while responding stated that there was people in the process of evacuating the residence. Upon arrival, fire personnel observed moderate smoke coming from the south side exterior of the building and the eves.  A resident of the house was spraying water from a garden hose. All residents were accounted for and out of the building upon arrival. The remaining fire was extinguished and an investigator was called to the scene.
It is believed that discarded smoking materials on a deck were the cause of the fire. Damage was limited to the exterior siding and deck with minor smoke inside of the residence.  All fire units cleared the scene at 12:15 a.m. on September 3, 2013.
