Lake Altoona Park boat landing closed for repairs

Altoona (WQOW) - Boaters looking to make their way onto the waters of Lake Altoona yet this fall will need to find an alternate route. The main boat landing closed Tuesday.

The parking lot at the Lake Altoona Park boat landing will be torn up and repaved over the next few weeks. The Eau Claire County Parks and Forest Department says the boat landing itself is also set to be made more handicap accessible so more visitors can enjoy the area.

"The new approach to the boat landing will have a sidewalk that goes down to the ramp. The sidewalk will be wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair, and will have railing on the side of it to serve as a guide to get down to the launch there," said Josh Pederson, Eau Claire County Parks and Forest Director.

The entire project is expected to be complete in early October. In the meantime, boaters are being told to use the Highline Forest Road landing along North Shore Drive on the Eau Claire River.
