Case of road rage on the Beltline lands one in jail

MADISON (WKOW) -- A 26-year-old Stoughton woman was quite shaken after a case of road rage on the W. Beltline Highway Tuesday afternoon.

The woman stated she felt the man was traveling too close behind her as they were both driving east on the W. Beltline Highway.  She tapped her brakes to get his attention, but he responded by passing to get in front of her and slamming on his brakes.

He then kept up with her as she tried to get away.  The man repeatedly swerved at her car, eventually colliding with her driver's side window, showering her with glass.

Both pulled onto Todd Drive, as did a witness.  The male driver, 40-year-old Aaron Cavanah, stated he was trying to escort the victim off of the freeway because he thought she was trying to kill him by hitting her brakes.

Cavanah also said the woman was the one who swerved, causing the collision, but the witness stated otherwise.

The victim suffered small cuts to her arms from the shards of glass.

Cavanah was tentatively charged with 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety.
