Drought concerns deepen in western Wisconsin

Eau Claire (WQOW) - Every cloud has a silver lining, but not in this case because there are no rain clouds.

Dunn County and much of Eau Claire County are now in a severe drought.  The area had been in a moderate drought.  We are seven inches below average for rainfall the past two months.

So what's the difference between a moderate and severe drought?  In a moderate drought, you typically see some damage to crops and some water shortages developing.  In a severe drought, crop losses are likely, water shortages are common and water restrictions could be imposed.
