EAU CLAIRE (WKOW) -- A man who has admitted to being the father of a 15-year-old's newborn baby that was found murdered in Eau Claire last week has been arrested for sexual assault of a child.

According to a press release from the Eau Claire Police Department, the newborn was found dead last Wednesday night after the 15-year-old mother of the baby was brought into a local hospital for complications from childbirth. Officers went to the hospital around 11:16 p.m. and determined the birth had happened at an Eau Claire residence.

Police found the infant dead at the residence. A forensic examination from the UW-Madison Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, determined the infant was born alive and died as a result of homicidal actions. The examination also found the infant was near full term and was female.

During the investigation, detectives learned the 15-year-old female had been repeatedly sexually assaulted for several years. The suspect, Larry Johnson, is being held at the Eau Claire County Jail on charges of Repeated Acts of Sexual Assault of the Same Child and First Degree Sexual Assault of a Child.

During an interview with Detectives, Johnson admitted to having repeatedly sexually assaulted the 15-year-old female over the course of several years. Johnson also stated he believed he was the biological father of the deceased infant.

Police say a petition has been filed in juvenile court regarding the 15-year-old female’s involvement in the homicide of the infant. She is not being identified. The investigation continues.
