Fire on Madison's south side resulting in $15,000 damage

MADISON (WKOW) -- The City of Madison Fire Department reported a fire early Sunday morning on the 1100 block of Catalpa Circle, resulting in approximately $15,000 in damage.
On September 8th, a Town of Madison firefighter was driving down Badger Road when he smelled smoke. He reported the fire to the Town of Madison Fire Station. Town of Madison fire department called City of Madison firefighters to help around 4:15 a.m.
The fire was located just next to the apartment building and involved two recycling carts and miscellaneous items. The exterior wall, a door, and two air conditioners were damaged.
No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
In the meantime, firefighters would like to remind everyone of several important safety tips:
-Install smoke alarms on every level of the home, as well as in and around every bedroom.
-Test your smoke alarms monthly.
-Make an escape plan and practice fire drills.
-When you hear the alarm, get out and stay out.
-After you have escaped, call 9-1-1 from a safe place.
-Never go back inside the building for any reason.
