BARABOO (WKOW) -- At approximately 1:30 AM Sunday morning, a 21-year-old male reportedly almost drove head on into a Park Rangers' vehicle before crashing into a tree.

The Department of Natural Resources Park Rangers at Devil's Lake State Park initially approached the male for being parked in the state park after hours. After talking briefly, the man sped off in his vehicle towards a dead end, upon which he turned around and charged back towards the Park Rangers at a high speed.

The suspect did not hit the Park Rangers' vehicle, but did sustain injuries from crashing into a tree. The Baraboo Fire Department, Baraboo Ambulance Service, and the Sauk County Sheriff's Department all responded to the scene.

The subject is currently in critical condition at UW-Hospital in Madison.

The Sauk County Sheriff's Department and the Department of Natural Resources are investigating the accident.

The 21-year-old is from Pleasant Prairie, WI. His name has not been released.
