Spring Valley man killed by drunk driver in high speed chase

Minneapolis (WQOW) - A western Wisconsin man who was in the wrong place at the wrong time has died in a crash.

It happened early Monday morning in Minneapolis. The Minnesota State Patrol says Brody Sotona, 20, of Spring Valley died when his car was hit by a driver who was fleeing from police. The state patrol says a trooper stopped a car for speeding and suspicion of drunk driving. The driver from St. Paul pulled over initially but then fled.

"You have to evaluate, you let a suspected drunk driver go at a high speed into the downtown which is what he was doing before the trooper even caught up to him, or not, and that's the question that you have an incredibly small window of opportunity to answer," says
Lt. Eric Roeske of the Minnesota State Patrol.

His passenger, from Stillwater, was seriously hurt.
