Possible task force being created for parts of Confluence

Eau Claire (WQOW) - More discussion about a big downtown project:  last night, the Eau Claire City Council talked about creating a Confluence Council.

That group would be responsible for managing the operations of the proposed community arts center. The task force would likely consist of seven people. It would be made up of City Council members, University representatives, local art groups and area businessmen.

"It's a very important issue because we're being asked to financially be a part of this Confluence Project and because of that, tax payer dollars are on the line and when we look at the governance of the Confluence Project, it's important that the city has a say in what happens because we're accountable," says City Council member Andrew Werthmann.

Another City Council member said it's a little like putting the cart before the horse but it's best to be prepared if the Confluence Project is approved.
