MADISON (WKOW) -- The Badgers are flying to Arizona State, but they may be wise to stay grounded once they get there.
Wisconsin is averaging 390 yards per game on the ground. That is the third best average in the country. The level of competition will jump up this week, but the Badgers have no plans to abandon their bread-and-butter, according to running back Melvin Gordon.
"It's definitely going to be a challenge. Obviously, every game you're not going to be able to put up 300 yards, especially against a defense like that, but we're going to play great offense. That's our goal."
Gordon acknowledged this Arizona State defense is athletic up front. They did struggle against the run last season. However, the Sun Devils only allowed 51 rushing yards in their opener against Sacramento State. It's hard to judge a defense based on a tune up game like that. Still, Badgers running back James White was impressed with what he saw on tape.
"I mean, they're very physical in the pass game and the run game. So, everybody has to be on the same page. We have to stay on our blocks in order to be successful."
The Badgers will play at Arizona State at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday.
