Bond set for suspect in crime spree

IOWA COUNTY (WKOW) -- Bond is set at $500,000 cash for the man accused in a four-county crime spree across southern Wisconsin.

36-year-old James Kruger faces 15 total charges between Iowa and Grant counties; seven in Iowa and eight in Grant. Authorities say Kruger's crime spree took him through Lafayette and Dane counties, so he could face charges there as well. Charges are more certain in Dane County. Kruger was wanted for an attempted homicide in Madison on Monday before his alleged crimes on Tuesday.

Kruger was arrested Tuesday after leading officers on a high-speed chase. His car rolled over on Highway 18/151 near Blue Mounds after hitting spike strips deployed by deputies.

Authorities say Kruger's crime spree also included an attempted homicide, kidnapping and car theft.

He's being held in Iowa County.
