Kids get a look at college life at UW-Madison

MADISON (WKOW) -- More than 100 children and teenagers got a chance to see what it's like to be a college student on Saturday.

It's part of an event at UW-Madison put on by the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation (CRSF) called College Day Experience. The young people checked out the campus and heard from some guest speakers like Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen.

CRSF works with underprivileged kids across the country to teach them life lessons so they can be successful, using baseball and softball themed programs.

"We're taking them on to Camp Randall where they'll play quick ball and have different exercises on the field, so that they can see this college experience, they can see what they can have at their hands if they make the right choices," says Flynn Burch programs director for CRSF.

The foundation has been working in Wisconsin since 2009.
