Syrian president welcomes further investigation

Posted:

SYRIA (WKOW) – Syria's president says he welcomes the return of U.N. investigators to follow up on the chemical weapons attack in August and says he could provide a list of his chemical weapons stockpile at any time.

In an interview on Wednesday with American Journalist and Democratic Representative Dennis Kucinich, Bashar Al Assad says he hasn't had time to analyze the United Nations findings yet, but said it was clear that rebels were behind the chemical weapons attack, not his regime.  The United Nations report confirmed the use of those weapons, but did not say who used them.

The U.S. State Department says there's no evidence the opposition used chemical Weapons.  Assad vows his government will comply with the deal to hand over and destroy its stockpile.
