No changes to Eau Claire's plow policy but city eyeing exceptions

Eau Claire (WQOW) - Eau Claire's three-inch plow policy sticks, but the city will identify problem areas that may become exceptions to the rule.

A city fiscal committee has been looking at the snow plow policy. Years ago, the city would plow after a two-inch snowfall, but made the switch to save money. Some residents did not like it, especially after 84 inches of snow fell last winter. Snow and ice built up on many streets.

The fiscal committee will recommend no major changes to the policy, but says the city will now work to improve the way residents can report their concerns online.

The city will also keep a very close eye on hilly areas that have been problem spots in the past. Plows may be needed on those streets even if the threshold for snow has not been met.
