BOSTON (WKOW) -- Lawyers for the accused Boston Marathon bomber will be discussing the death penalty in federal court Monday.
They're asking for more information on the timeline federal prosecutors will use to decide if they'll pursue a death sentence.
U.S. Attorneys, meanwhile, are expected to make a recommendation to the Department of Justice by October 31st. The the DOJ greenlights capital punishment prosecutors could make an announcement about the death penalty by January 31st.
20-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will not be at Monday's hearing. In July, he pleaded not guilty to 30 charges, 17 of those carry a possible death sentence.
