Sen. Tammy Baldwin criticizes Gov. Scott Walker over BadgerCare letters

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKOW) -- Democratic U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin is criticizing the way Republican Governor Scott Walker's administration is informing roughly 92,000 Wisconsin residents they're likely to lose BadgerCare Medicaid coverage at the end of the year.

Walker's administration is sending letters to the recipients starting Monday, letting them know that they or someone in their family may be earning too much to remain on the program.

Sen. Baldwin wrote in a letter to Walker that he must do more to communicate with those who are losing Medicaid coverage and must now purchase insurance through the new health insurance marketplace, or exchange, which opens October 1.

Baldwin is calling on Walker to send an individualized, personal letter to anyone at risk of losing coverage, as well as make phone calls and partner with other groups to work with those affected.
