Wal-Mart hiring up for holidays, Target down

Eau Claire (WQOW) - One national retailer is upping its holiday hiring while another is cutting back.

Wal-mart, the world's largest retailer, said that it is bringing on 55,000 seasonal workers to handle the Christmas rush this year. That's 5,000 more than last year. That averages out to about 13 more workers per store. The bump in Christmas time hiring comes as Wal-Mart, and retailers across the board, have been hurting.

Just to compare with another major retailer, Target says they're actually hiring 18,000 fewer holiday workers this year.
