9/24 Daybreak Interview: Youth Ambassador Program

Posted:

(Press Release) - The Eau Claire Energy Cooperative Youth Ambassador Program is an exciting program designed to help high school students learn firsthand about many leadership skills necessary in life. Beginning its ninth year, students will have the opportunity to learn about cooperatives and energy issues, including:

  • Renewable energy
  • Careers in our industry
  • Energy efficiency
  • Board of Directors body of governance
  • Tour renewable energy facilities

Youth Ambassadors also plan worthwhile community service projects such as:

  • The Community Table
  • Fleece scarf and blanket project
  • Adopt a Highway
  • St. Francis Food Pantry

Students attend eight monthly meetings scheduled from September through May (no meeting planned during the month of December), usually on the third Wednesday of the month. Lunch is provided at each meeting. Most meetings take place at ECEC, but students will also travel to other locations. Most meetings include hands-on activities or workshop environments.

The Youth Ambassador Program is a great way for students to interact and work with one another by examining the business operations of a cooperative and energy issues. Plus, it looks great on the student's resume!
