UPDATE: Changes to dangerous dog ordinance approved in Eau Claire

Posted:

Eau Claire (WQOW) - The Eau Claire City Council has approved a revised dangerous dog ordinance.

The major change is the amount of time a dog owner has to make a decision once their dog is determined dangerous by police.  Right now, a dog owner has 10 days to decide whether to euthanize their dog or move it outside of city limits.  That will now change.  They'll now have five days to make that decision.

Eau Claire (WQOW) - Changes could be coming soon to Eau Claire's dangerous dog ordinance.

The major change would be the amount of time a dog owner has to make a decision once their dog is determined dangerous by police. Currently a dog owner has ten days to decide whether to euthanize their dog or move it outside of city limits. Under the new change, they would have five days.

City council is expected to vote on the change Tuesday. The city says it hopes to create a more timely response from dog owners.
