UW Seeks Offensive Balance Vs. OSU

Madison (WQOW) -- Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer says the Badgers have the nation's best running back tandem in James White and Melvin Gordon.

Those two will be dealing with a Buckeyes defense that's ranked in the top ten against the run.  You'd expect Ohio State to stack the box against Wisconsin, forcing Joel Stave and the Badgers to throw the ball.

Stave's been inconsistent this season, with some good throws, and some bad.  Against Purdue, Stave missed a few throws and tossed his third pick in four games.   Badgers head coach Gary Andersen says Wisconsin will need to be balanced.

"We're not hiding from the fact that yes, we want to throw the ball better," says Andersen, "and it's a whole offense, it's a coaching staff, it's myself, you know, no one's going to sit here.....often times you start talking about the passing game and this and that, all of it goes right to the quarterback, you know, not so true, the pick that was thrown we didn't run the right route, we need to run better routes, cleaner routes, crisper routes, we want to make sure we put them in position as coaches be able to execute, but is the throw game a concern, I would say yes...is it alarming, I would say no."
