Authorities want to question son of missing man

BLACK RIVER FALLS (WKOW) -- The 20-year-old son of a missing Town of Hixton man is wanted for questioning by police.

Jackson County Sheriff's investigators say the son, Lars Helgeson, may be armed and dangerous and mentally unstable. Sheriff Duane Waldera says foul play has not been ruled out in the disappearance of 57-year-old Brian Helgeson, who has been missing for more than a week.

The La Crosse Tribune says a family member went to Brian and Lars Helgesons' residence and spotted someone trying to hide inside the house. The relative called the sheriff's department. Deputies arrived and didn't find anyone at the house.

Lars Helgeson may be traveling in a stolen vehicle, a brown 1980 Chevrolet Suburban with the license plate 589-DEW.

Sheriff Waldera said anyone with information on the whereabouts of Brian Helgeson, Lars Helgeson, or the vehicle should contact the Sheriff's Department at 715-284-5357.
