Local haunted barn closes after 10th year; final season kicks off Friday night

STOUGHTON (WKOW) -- It's the end of an era for a local haunted house.

"The Haunted Barn" is in its 10th and final season. This family-run business promises an evening of terror.

"The Haunted Barn" promises a full hour of props, actors, scenery and adventure. That's more time in the haunted house than previous years. Over the years, the owners say they've changed the scenes and scary haunts.

There are many different themes this year. The barn will feature everything from a clown room, to a scene from the movie "Saw" and a giant coffin that participants can climb into and rest. You'll enter the haunted barn and then travel through parts of the woods.

The owners say they've been preparing for this year's opening night for about ten months.

"Planning a lot of it is based on previous years. Areas that may not have worked out the way we wanted them to," said Larry Twining," Co-Owner of "The Haunted Barn."

The owners say they search for props at garage sales, local Halloween stores and they design a lot from scratch.

"The Haunted Barn" is still looking for volunteers for the season.
