EAU CLAIRE (WKOW) -- They originally rejected the project, but now state regulators have given the thumbs up for a $250-million wind farm in St. Croix County.
In a two-to-one vote Thursday, the state Public Service Commission approved the Highland Wind Farm. Regulators earlier this year rejected Emerging Energies' proposal due to the developer failing to show the project complied with state rules for noise created by wind turbines.
Emerging Energies then submitted a plan to curtail some of the turbines at night, according to the Milwaukee JournalSentinel.
The Highland Wind Farm project includes 44 wind turbines in the towns of Forest and Cylon, nearly 60 miles northwest of Eau Claire.
