Eau Claire (WQOW) -- The Eau Claire Regis girls basketball program looks to its past in making a decision for the future.

Former head coach Jim Negrini is the new Ramblers head coach.  Negrini coached at Regis from 1986 through 1998.  After that, he coached at Menomonie and Osseo-Fairchild.  Negrini says  that athletes have changed over the years, so his coaching style has changed as well.

"I think the game of basketball has changed, now, where the girls have got to have fun at playing it," says Negrini, "when I first started coaching it was [yelling, yelling], and I've completely changed out of that style to more of a softer style. I think in the past it was a lot more of a dictatorship, now I like to have as I coach lately, it's more an open session where you can talk and discuss things."

Negrini takes over a Regis team that took first in the Western Cloverbelt Conference and finished with a 15-9 overall record, losing in a WIAA Division 4 regional final to eventual state runner-up Colfax.
