10/2 Daybreak Interview: Boy Scouts' popcorn sale

Posted:

(Press Release) - The Boy Scouts' annual popcorn fundraiser is coming up again! The popcorn sale kicks off on Saturday, October 5th and runs through October 26th

The popcorn sale covers 10 counties, from Rice Lake to Hayward, East to Neillsville, West to Menomonie and Pepin County and of course right here in Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire.  Sales are done in a variety of ways, including door to door sales and site sales set up at many businesses who support the Scouting program.

Scouts are obviously setting financial goals, many of which cover troop and pack activities, equipment and supplies, but they are also learning many lessons about financial skills and responsibility.

Scouts learn safe money handling procedures, interpersonal sales skills, and the true cost of some of the activities they want to attend. Scouts even have the chance to earn a free camp session at Camp Phillips Scout Reservation through the popcorn sale.

The product line-up has had some minor changes, based on well received products from last year, we have brought out a favorite, Sea Salt Splash, in its own container this year.

We will have the Packer tin returning this year, and will also have a new Badgers Tin.  Both of these are a great tin to repack with a favorite treat of your own and share at the holidays.

Again, the Popcorn Sale runs from October 5th to the 26th. Look for Scouts in front of local businesses or even knocking on your door. If you have any further questions, you can contact the Chippewa Valley Council Office at (715) 832-6671.
