Eau Claire (WQOW) - The young man suspected of killing his father in Jackson County told investigators he was sick of always arguing with his dad.
Lars Helgeson was charged today with first degree murder and hiding a corpse. Lars, who is 20, allegedly shot and killed Brian Helgeson in mid-September.
His body was found buried about a week later on the farm where they both lived. According to the criminal complaint, Lars told a friend that he was tired of his dad being mean to him and slowing him down. Another friend told detectives Lars said, in his words, "The gods wanted him gone. I did everybody a favor. It was a government deal."
Investigators say Lars admitted shooting his father four times, including twice in the head. They say he confessed to then pouring gas on the body, burning it, than burying it.
Lars Helgeson will have his first day in court October 14th. Funeral services for Brian Helgeson are set for this Saturday.
