Police searching for armed robbery suspect


MADISON (WKOW) -- City of Madison police are actively investigating an armed robbery case that occurred Saturday morning.

At approximately 12:30 a.m., a man pointed a handgun at a 19-year-old man, who was walking in the Lathrop Street area just north of Hoyt Street, and demanded his belongings. The victim emptied his pockets and ran from the area. He was not injured, according to a release sent by UW-Madison police.

The suspect took the victim's cell phone and fled before police arrived on the scene. Police describe the suspect as a black male in his 20s, thin build, approximately 6'0" tall and 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark sweatshirt.
