Janesville citizens apprehend purse-snatcher

JANESVILLE, Wis. (AP) -- A group of citizens can take credit for apprehending a man who allegedly snatched a purse from a 69-year-old woman in Janesville.

Janesville police say the woman was unloading items into her car at about 4:45 p.m. Saturday in a mall parking lot when the man grabbed her purse out of her shopping cart.

The woman fell when she tried to take it back and was slightly hurt.

Police say nearby citizens heard the commotion and chased the 28-year-old suspect, pinning him to the ground until officers arrived.

The man is tentatively charged with felony theft and is being held in Rock County Jail.
