New hotel could mean big business for Eau Claire

Eau Claire (WQOW)- Eau Claire is making room for a new hotel and many new jobs.

Eau Claire's tourism website says the city has plenty of hotels in plenty of locations.  Some feel one location in particular needed lodging.  So that's where a new Holiday Inn comes into play.

Governor Walker was on hand today for a ribbon cutting on Eau Claire's south side.  The hotel is near Globe University.  The $12 million facility has 130 rooms.  Investors say it will bring about 150 new jobs to the area, with more than half of those being full-time salaried positions.

"The initial response from the community and from guests has been tremendous even thought we've only been open just over four weeks now," points out Tom Larson, President of the Larson Companies.

The hotel is expected to have a $6 million impact on the local economy every year.
