MADISON, WI (WKOW) -- The Badgers Men's Soccer team is quietly putting together a good season, as they prepare to host Indiana, the defending NCAA champions.
The Badgers are 7-2-1 and unbeaten at home.
The team lost standout midfielder Tomislav Zadro earlier in the season due to injury.
Coach John Trask applauds the team for stepping up in his absence. "All of them have just relished the opportunity without Tomislav to say, we're not just a one-man show," said Trask. "A lot of guys have stepped up to the table, and it's exciting for us as coaches to see the development of the whole group."
Senior Nick Janus is one of those who has stepped up big for the Badgers, scoring six goals in seven matches.
"What we stressed earlier this year was how much depth we have," said Janus. "And that proves it, that even with a guy like Tomislav out, who makes every team better, that we still manage to get really good results."
Zadro is scheduled to return Friday when UW hosts conference foe Indiana. The Badgers are 0-1 in Big Ten play.
