Man sentenced for causing fatal crash; must drive past crash scene every year

Eau Claire (WQOW) - A western Wisconsin man has been sentenced for causing a fatal crash while talking on his cell phone.

Thomas Geistfeld from Prescott pleaded no contest yesterday to homicide by negligent driving.  He got ten days in jail.  The judge also ordered him to drive past the scene of the crash every year for the next three years.

Dawn Anderson from New Richmond died in the head-on crash two years ago.  A passenger in Geistfeld's truck told investigators Geistfeld was talking on his phone when he lost control of his truck.

Officials estimated he was going between 73 and 94-miles an hour on wet roads when the crash happened.
